Project 2

We used around 1 month to get this project completed! Firstly, our groups are formed up with Yvonne, Timothy, Sean, Wee Meng, Rui Da, Wayne, Darren and Me. All of us firstly give a rough idea of what story we would want to film. I had the idea of having a video of 'Street Fighter'. But the idea that I had given was too simple. Thus, Timothy came out with the idea of a 'BasketBall Video Game' Theme. It's where Rui Da, Yvonne, Wayne, Darren, Timothy and Wee Meng were the players in the game, while Sean acting as the MC as well as audience together with me.

We met out to plan the story line and effects that can be used for our video. And spent around 1 week time to get our story board and planning done. We did the recording of the video in 3 days at 2 different locations. One location at school, while the other is at Seng Kang basketball court.

For my part, I did a total of 4 effects, which is portal, cloning, rings and credits.

Portal


There's 2 parts for the portal.
The first one is whereby Yvonne and RuiDa came out of the Portal.

For the first portal, I drew a portal from photoshop, then I begin the rest of the work using Fractal Noise for the inner part of the portal, while Roto brush tool is used to outline Yvonne an I masked out RuiDa for this part of the work.

While the second one is where Sean came out of the portal to announce the winners.

For the second portal, I got the same portal and work it out for the part where Sean came out from. Same as the previous part, I used thr Fractal Noise and Roto brush tool. But additionally, I found a way to make the portal disappear with the use of Block Dissolve.

With Effect:



Clone

In the cloning part,we used around 3 mins of our time to film this part of the video. In this part, Sean and I have to act as the audience, cheering and after on giving a shocked face. It was quite hilarious as we look kind of funny during the process of 'cheering'.

After masking out the needed number of 'us', I also used Roto Brush Tool to make it looked more real with the help of smoothing them. I combined them together but to saw a small defect at the last clone which have a slight colour change because when we were at that part, the sun was being blocked by the clouds, thus, making the last clone looks dark. But with the help of Color Correction, nothing is impossible!

Ring

This ring part I used the Eclipse effect to draw out 3 rings to bind around Wayne. This is to show how Yvonne tie Wayne up when Wayne attempts to move. Also, beside the Eclipse effects, I also used Block Dissolve to make the rings disappear at the end.

Credit


Lastly, the Credits part! I found a tutorial which taught me how I could make my text looks 3D, and it was pretty simple and cool! With the help of 3D Rotation tool, and the light effects. Not letting it to look plain, I also added in Bloopers together with the Credits! :)

Project 2 coming up!!

Project 1

The first After Effects project that we start on. At first, I was startled on which video I should make. After browsing through Video Copilot website, an effect on Light Streak caught my attention! I went down to Orchard road and record several videos for the use of light streak effects. But because it requires Particular plugin, I was stucked and I couldn't carry on doing it. I downloaded the plugin but the plugin didn't came out. I even chat with the staff online to ask why the problems would occur, but at the end, I still couldn't solve the problem.

Because the plugin couldn't work, so I tried another type of effects, which is the water droplet effect and the earthquake effect. This makes my video looks like a 'disaster' type of clip!

Week 3

For this lab, it was pretty easy to catch up with the adjusting of colour, saturation and brightness. Also, its simple by just adjusting them in AE. Most importantly, having the best colour in a video is important too. Thus, these is the best tools to help making a successful video.

Motorcycle Sky Replacement Tutorial.

This tutorial was pretty easy. Adjusting the control was easy and simple too. Lastly, it's interesting!!



Halo event footage
This tutorial requires us to cover up the name of the mall with a white wall. And i used the perimeter selection to cover it. It's done just by a few minutes!

Week 1 - Lab 2

This exercise is a scene extracted from the movie 'Indiana Jones'. I'm amazed by the use of pen tool for the masking part which helps to cover the blood stain from the back! It's a fun exercise!

Week 1 - Lab 1

Hello! It's a start of a new semester being in Year 3.1! This is the first time I'm in touch with Adobe After Effects, after doing the first tutorial, it caught my attention greatly! This software gave me a 'very tough to use feel' once I look at it. But I'm surprised with the amazing effects that we can do using it. NICE! (Y)

And here's the first lab exercise, the use of the word effect is pretty easy and it will also be in great use for video making in the future! :)
